Epigraph:

بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِذَا قَضَىٰ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ

He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth, and when He decrees something, He says only, ‘Be,’ and it is. (Al Quran 2:117)

Have they been created from nothing, or are they their own creators? Have they created the heavens and the earth? In truth they put no faith in anything. (Al Quran 52:35-36)

God of Judaism, Christianity and Islam is one. Trinitarian Christianity injects a Triune twist in this understanding. Unification of all fundamental forces will be another powerful testament to this unity of one Creator. I believe at the end of the day all the forces will be unified into one and not three. There is one Creator of our universe and not three.

So, much about Trinity and let us move now to physics and the Quran.

The verses quoted above state that God created the universe by merely His word. How is that possible?

Let us start with All Powerful and All Knowing God and His word and then see how does this creative drama unfold from a unity and His Divine will and word!

James Clerk Maxwell unified the forces of electricity and magnetism into a single theory called electromagnetism, more than 150 years ago, demonstrating that they are two aspects of the same phenomenon; his work also showed that light is a form of electromagnetic radiation.

With Maxwell’s contributions and additional discoveries in the 20th century, we came to know that there are four fundamental forces in the universe. The only two fundamental forces that have been successfully unified so far are the electromagnetic force and the weak nuclear force, which together are called the “electroweak force.”

The electromagnetic force and the weak force differ greatly in their functions, mechanisms, ranges and strength. But in the 1960s, scientists realized that both are expressions of a single, unified fundamental force: the electroweak force.

Physicists Sheldon Glashow, Abdus Salam, and Steven Weinberg developed the electroweak theory, which explains how these two forces behave as a single unified force at extremely high energies. They received the Nobel Prize in 1979 for this contribution.

Grand Unified Theory (GUT) is any model in particle physics that merges the electromagneticweak, and strong forces (the three gauge interactions of the Standard Model) into a single force at high energies. Although this unified force has not been directly observed, many GUT models theorize its existence. If the unification of these three interactions is possible, it raises the possibility that there was a grand unification epoch in the very early universe in which these three fundamental interactions were not yet distinct.

Experiments have confirmed that at high energy, the electromagnetic interaction and weak interaction unify into a single combined electroweak interaction.[1] GUT models predict that at even higher energy, the strong and electroweak interactions will unify into one electronuclear interaction. This interaction is characterized by one larger gauge symmetry and thus several force carriers, but one unified coupling constant. Unifying gravity with the electronuclear interaction would provide a more comprehensive theory of everything (TOE) rather than a Grand Unified Theory. Thus, GUTs are often seen as an intermediate step towards a TOE.

The novel particles predicted by GUT models are expected to have extremely high masses—around the GUT scale of 1016{\displaystyle 10^{16}} GeV (just three orders of magnitude below the Planck scale of 1019{\displaystyle 10^{19}} GeV)—and so are well beyond the reach of any foreseen particle hadron collider experiments. Therefore, the particles predicted by GUT models will be unable to be observed directly, and instead the effects of grand unification might be detected through indirect observations.

Einstein showed us that matter and energy are one and related to each other by a simple equation:

E = mC2 where C is the speed of light and 2 is exponent of C.

Recent discoveries of dark matter and dark energy have provided some new ways of thinking. 1998 Nobel Prize of physics was given for contributions towards dark energy.

When matter and antimatter come into contact, they annihilate each other, meaning they destroy one another completely, releasing a large amount of energy in the process; this is a fundamental principle in particle physics.

Now what about energy and dark energy?

According to many physicists, the net energy of our universe is considered to be zero, meaning the positive energy of matter is balanced out by the negative energy of gravity, resulting in a total of zero energy.

Positive energy is associated with matter and light, while negative energy is attributed to the gravitational attraction between particles.

This theory proposes that the total energy in the universe is zero because the positive energy is exactly canceled out by the negative energy.

If the net energy is zero, it could imply that the universe could have come into existence from “nothing.”

It may sound incredible, but many scientists believe that the total energy of the universe is zero. Hence, no energy needed to be “created” when the universe came into existence.

While it seems obvious that there is a huge amount of energy in the particles and radiation that pervade the universe, this energy may be balanced by negative energy caused by the gravitational attraction between the particles. As Stephen Hawking explained, when you pull two objects apart, you need to expend energy to overcome the gravity that pulls them together. As it takes positive energy to separate them, gravity must be negative energy.[1]

As God created the universe from nothing as stated in the above verses we saw that net energy and matter of our universe are zero.

Likewise, there are several verses in the Quran that when Allah wants something to be, He merely says so and it becomes. One of these verses is quoted above and implies that God created the universe by merely His word. If so then all fundamental forces are one.

Based on the Quranic verses I predict that some form of Grand Unified Theory (GUT) or Theory of Everything (TOE) will become true someday and there are a few Nobels lurking in there.
