NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope estimates that there are around two trillion galaxies in the observable universe. This estimate is based on mathematical models that account for galaxies that are too faint or small for Hubble to see. The estimate also includes an estimate of the combined light from all of these galaxies. However, some other estimates suggest that the number of galaxies could be much lower, in the hundreds of billions.
