The disbelievers say: This Quran is naught but a lie that Muhammad has fabricated, and other people have helped him with it. They have, thereby, perpetrated an injustice and an untruth. They also say: These are fables of the ancients which he has got someone to write down for him and they are recited to him morning and evening. Say to them: The Quran has been revealed by Him Who knows every secret that is in the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is Most Forgiving, Ever Merciful. (Al Quran 25:4-6)

The above short video nicely outlines the theme of examining any scripture or religious tradition in the light of science.
Many Muslim writers including myself talk about the Quran and science. The above video definitely shows that we cannot cherry pick.
We will need to make a very comprehensive case and a cumulative case and be prepared to defend any possible exceptions. For example, we cannot say that the Quran mentions the Big Bang and that the universe is expanding and in the same breath say that Noah lived to be 900 years old or humans did not come from ape like animals.
It has to be all or none.
Unlike many well known Muslim scholars, I do not suggest that Noah lived to be 900 years. Unlike many of them I fully believe in all the well established scientific details of our common ancestry with all life forms on planet earth.
I try to make a case for guided evolution and in fact have made a comprehensive collection in almost a book form on the subject.
Ultimately, I believe it is only science that becomes an arbiter between the Bible and the Quran and consequently between Christianity and Islam.
I invite all Muslim and other open minded readers to approach this all important question of science as the arbiter between the Bible, the Quran or atheism in a comprehensive manner.
